There are many different types of process filters, but they can be broadly classified into two main categories:
1. Surface Filters – These filters traps particles bigger than the pore sizes on the surfaces. These particles
form cake on the surface and the same can be removed by cleaning processes. After the cleaning process, these
filters can be re-used. However, effectiveness depends on the type of contamination and the cleaning process.
2. Depth filters: These filters have a porous structure that traps solid particles within their matrix. These
filters are usually of throwaway type and cannot be re-used
The choice of filter for a particular application depends on a number of factors, including the type of fluid being filtered, the size of the particles being removed, and the desired level of filtration.
Process filtration is a versatile and widely used technique that is essential for many industrial processes. By removing impurities and clarifying liquids, process filtration helps to improve product quality, reduce waste, and protect the environment.
